Sarah Charmchi, LMSW, is a licensed master social worker who is passionate about helping community members fulfill their mental wellness goals. Sarah has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. She graduated with a bachelor’s in Behavioral and Community Health in 2012 and later attended The Catholic University of America, where she earned her master’s degree with Honors in Social Work.
Sarah’s clinical experiences have prepared her to work with even the most challenging cases. Sarah has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques. As an undergraduate, Sarah interned for The University of Maryland’s Sexual Assault Prevention Program. During her graduate studies, she worked for DC Safe, a 24-hour sexual assault prevention and crisis intervention agency where she provided emergency services, court advocacy, and system reform for domestic and sexual violence survivors. Sarah later continued to work within The Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, The National Center For Children and Families, Montgomery County Public School-Based Therapy, as well as a community therapeutic nutrition and wellness center. Overall, Sarah strives to provide a comfortable, safe, and non-judgmental environment explicitly catered towards helping you heal, grow, and reach your fullest life potential.
As a bilingual therapist, fluent in English and Persian (Farsi), Sarah understands the importance of multicultural sensitivity during treatment. She is, therefore, proud to provide psychotherapy services to the Farsi speaking community.
