At Washington Psychological Wellness, a therapy practice in Gaithersburg, MD we are dedicated to providing the highest quality mental health care rooted in compassion, empathy, and expertise. As an intern at Washington Psychological Wellness, you will have the privilege of working under the supervision of an experienced and licensed clinician who will guide and mentor you throughout your journey. Our practice offers a diverse clientele, giving you the chance to work with individuals from various backgrounds and age groups.
Each intern at Washington Psychological Wellness is assigned an experienced and licensed clinical supervisor. The supervision structure includes:
Weekly Supervision: You will meet once a week with your supervisor to discuss cases, receive guidance, and enhance your clinical skills.
One-on-One or Triad Format: Supervision sessions can take place in either a one-on-one or a triad format, depending on your preference and the learning style that suits you best.
Note- we tailor supervision and training needs based on the requirements set by your program.
Tailored Treatment Approach
We understand that every client is unique, and as an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to tailor your treatment approach to align with your patient’s specific needs and your personal interests. Our range of therapeutic modalities includes but is not limited to:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Psychodynamic Therapy
- Humanistic Therapy
- Integrative Therapy
- Couples Therapy
- Family Therapy
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Trauma-Informed Care
At Washington Psychological Wellness, we value your needs and understand the importance of flexibility. As an intern, you have the freedom to create your own schedule and set your hours. You will also have the freedom to choose your preferred work model:
In-Person: Work on-site at our clinic for a traditional in-person experience.
Virtual: Conduct sessions and work remotely if it aligns with your interests/needs and graduate program requirements.
Hybrid: Enjoy the flexibility of in-person and virtual work tailored to your preferences.
Our primary goal is to ensure you meet your graduate program’s minimum caseload requirements while allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
At Washington Psychological Wellness, we believe in giving back to the community. Interns have the chance to lead or co-lead support groups and participate in community outreach initiatives. We encourage our interns to actively engage with the community, making a positive impact beyond the clinic’s walls.
Our interns are integral members of our team. You will have the opportunity to join our monthly case conceptualization meetings, where you can share your insights, expand your knowledge, and grow as a professional. We value your input and believe in the power of collective wisdom.

Psychology Internship Requirements
Must be enrolled in a graduate-level program as part of practicum I, II, or internship.
Doctoral externships, internships, and post-doctoral fellowships are also available (both clinical and assessment tracks).
