Dianisha is the recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Graduate award from the Maryland Association of Counselor Educators and Supervisors!

Dianisha, a Graduate Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at Washington Psychological Wellness, is currently honing her therapeutic skills through the master’s program at Hood College. Embracing a person-centered therapeutic approach, she believes in fostering collaboration between counselor and client, valuing the client as the expert of their own life.

With a calm and supportive presence influenced by her multicultural background as a military child, Dianisha holds a deep respect for individual experiences. She is particularly drawn to working with women’s and family issues, with a keen interest in supporting diverse individuals and those within the military community. Central to her approach is the empowerment of each client, cultivating a strong therapeutic alliance from which growth can flourish.

Drawing from her previous internship experience with a domestic violence call hotline and training in crisis intervention and trauma, Dianisha is committed to helping clients navigate existential issues of loss and recovery. Pursuing a certificate in Trauma, Crisis, Grief, and Loss, she is equipped to provide compassionate support through life’s most challenging moments.

In her therapeutic framework, Dianisha adopts an integrative approach, leveraging systems and social construction techniques alongside cognitive strategies and emotional processing. Recognizing the importance of individualized care, she remains flexible and culturally sensitive, adapting her approach to meet the unique needs of each client.

Dianisha holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in human services from Goucher College in Towson, MD. She is on track to graduate from Hood College with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a certificate in Trauma, Crisis, Grief, and Loss in May 2025
