Hernan Alvarez Cordano, LCPC, NCC, CCTP, C-DBT, EMDR-C, BICBT-CC, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Dialectic Behavioral (DBT) Therapist, Certified EMDR Therapist, and Beck Institute Certified Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist. Hernan has a passion for helping others. He obtained his master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and certification in Spiritual Direction from Divine Mercy University in Virginia. Hernan also has experience in philosophy and theology, earning his master’s degree in theology and license in clinical psychology in Santiago de Chile. 

Hernan has experience providing counseling and coaching to individuals, couples, families, communities, and groups of diverse ages and backgrounds. In the last years, Hernan has been working in private practice, the behavioral health system at ​​Adventist HealthCare Hospital, and a clinical agency. Hernan approaches therapy by looking at each individual as a unique, unrepeatable being with deep intrinsic value. He believes in a holistic approach to care and works to integrate differing sciences to offer his clients a helpful and profound awareness of the realities of being a human. 

In his therapeutic service, Hernan uses an eclectic approach integrating cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), existential-humanistic therapy, psychoanalytic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and philosophical and theological aspects to treatment. He specializes in mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, trauma, behavioral disorders, and spiritual struggles. Above all, Hernan respects each individual’s wants and needs in their path towards healing and self-fulfillment, whether it be culture, customs, sexual orientation, beliefs, or point of view. Hernan offers therapy in English, Spanish, and Italian.
