Questions?
You’re in the
Right Place.

From getting started to insurance, appointments, and what to expect, find answers to some of our most common questions.

A few things you may be wondering.

Whether you’re just getting started or already exploring your options, we’re here to make the process feel a little easier.

Getting Started

Yes! We’d love to help you get started. Availability varies by clinician, service, location, and scheduling needs, but our Client Care Team is here to learn what you’re looking for and help you explore current options.

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Start with a complimentary consultation with our Client Care Team, where you can share what you’re looking for, ask questions, and tell us what matters to you. From there, we’ll help guide you toward the next step that feels right for you.

Think of your complimentary consultation as a chance to get to know us before getting started. You’ll speak with a member of our Client Care Team about what brings you to WPW, what you’re hoping for, your preferences, scheduling and insurance needs, and any questions you may have. We’ll then help you explore clinicians who may be a good fit. The consultation is informational and is not a therapy or coaching session.

Finding the right clinician is about more than finding an open appointment. We take the time to understand your concerns, goals, preferences, personality, schedule, and the kind of support you’re looking for. Our goal is to help you connect with someone you can feel comfortable being yourself with.

Appointments & Services

WPW offers individual therapy for children, teens, and adults, relationship and family counseling, group therapy, coaching, medication management, and telehealth. Psychological testing and assessment are also available through our sister practice, Washington Insight Solutions. Not sure which service is right for you? Our Client Care Team can help you figure that out.

Yes! You can receive care in the way that feels most comfortable for you. In-person care is available in Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Germantown, Maryland, while telehealth is available throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, with additional states available depending on the clinician.

It depends on the type of care you’re looking for, your schedule, and current clinician availability. Our Client Care Team can help you explore the options currently available and find an appointment that works for you.

We know life happens and plans sometimes change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we simply ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, may be charged the full session fee. If something unexpected comes up, please reach out to us.

Absolutely. The relationship you have with your clinician matters, and sometimes the first match simply isn’t the right one. Let us know, and we’ll help you explore another option that may feel better suited to you.

Insurance & Payment

WPW works with select insurance plans, including CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna/Evernorth, Anthem, and Partners Direct Health/Imagine360. Because participation can vary by clinician and service, our Client Care Team can help you understand what may be covered under your specific plan.

You don’t have to navigate your insurance on your own. Our Client Care Team can help verify your benefits and explain what we’re able to determine about coverage for your clinician and services. Because every plan is different, we’ll review your specific benefits whenever possible before your first appointment.

You may still have options. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be able to receive reimbursement for a portion of your care. We’ll provide the documentation you need to submit to your insurance company and help make the process as straightforward as possible.

Yes. Some clients prefer the flexibility of paying privately, while others may be using a service that isn’t billed through insurance. Whatever your situation, we’ll make sure you understand the cost of your care upfront so there are no surprises.

Privacy & Support

Absolutely. Your privacy is an important part of feeling safe and comfortable in care. What you share is generally confidential and protected by law, with limited exceptions related to safety and certain legal requirements. Your clinician will explain confidentiality and its limits so you know what to expect.

Your safety comes first. Washington Psychological Wellness is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger or needs urgent mental health support, please call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
