LGBTQ Counseling

LGBTQ Counseling for Adults

Washington Psychological Wellness is proud to provide LGBTQ counseling for adults. Whether you are questioning your gender identity or sexual identity, we are here to help.

We strive to support a judgement-free environment where you can decide what’s best for you about coming out with loved ones. Our therapists have a deep understanding of the unique challenges that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals and couples face.

You may be feeling sad, lonely, anxious, angry or concerned with your relationship. You might have questions regarding your sexuality, self-judgment, or difficulty negotiating and defining your sexuality with friends and family. Working with a therapist with whom you feel accepted and supported can help in getting clarity about these issues.

Some Of The Concerns That We Help LGBTQ Clients With Include:

  • Relationship counseling
  • Negotiating open relationships
  • Substance abuse
  • Sex addiction
  • Self-Esteem/Acceptance
  • Family & societal homophobia
  • Self-acceptance
  • Coming out
  • Depression & anxiety
  • Blended families

LGBTQ Counseling for Relationships

At Washington Psychological Wellness, our clinicians help partners of all sexuality and gender identity and work with exclusive and non-exclusive relationships. Couples commonly come in seeking support on issues such as one person being more comfortable being out, partners affected by a history of shame, problems with sex, fears of cheating, or a relationship where interest has waned. All couples have a past that makes them who they are today.

LGBTQ Counseling for Youth

We work with parents to be supportive of their children and to educate them on tying into the world of their kids. Often parents won’t even realize all the things teens who are coming out have had to hide from others, and learning another way of being is challenging. Building trust and awareness is essential to having a stable relationship with your kids. We also have a variety of resources to help parents educate themselves on their adolescents’ world and how to be supportive.
