Elizabeth Riccio serves as a Graduate Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at Washington Psychological Wellness. She graduated from James Madison University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology & Biology while authoring and presenting research in Cognitive Neuropsychology. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johns Hopkins University.

Elizabeth has worked as a Mental Health Specialist in outpatient care, providing psychoeducation and community resources to patients of all ages, primarily those seeking care for anxiety, depression and psychosis. She has also served as a Behavior Therapist, both in the office and in-home, for children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through such experiences, Elizabeth has centered her therapeutic approach around providing a holistic experience that fosters adaptive responses to mental health concerns. Her professional interests encompass existential psychotherapy, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and utilizing mindfulness-based techniques. Elizabeth is committed to deepening her knowledge and experience to best serve her clients and community. She is passionate about cultivating a safe and comfortable therapeutic alliance which encourages clients to search for meaning, practice acceptance and facilitate personal growth.
