Damian Jones, LCPC

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Psychotherapist

Damian Jones, LCPC, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor experienced in working with individuals of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Damian approaches therapy from an eclectic perspective, combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, Gottman Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Rogerian Therapy. He also specializes in treating children’s issues, adolescent issues, transitions from youth to adulthood, family issues, couples/relationship issues, anxiety, and depression.

Damian believes counseling is a journey of self-exploration meant to increase a client’s level of self-understanding and self-awareness. Damian is proud to provide his clients with a safe and comfortable space to express themselves freely and not feel judged. He believes that a listening ear, compassion, understanding, and motivation are essential elements needed by clients. Therefore, he works with each individual to ensure their needs are met and respected adaptively and safely.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in Biology from The University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Damian went on to work in the Human Services field. After many years of working for Baltimore City Public Schools, Damian went to work in a Level 5 school, Kennedy Krieger Institute as a Behavior Specialist. Here, his focus shifted from education to wanting to have a better understanding of how the mind works and its impact on people. Damian returned to school and received his master’s degree in Human Services with a concentration in Counseling from Lincoln University-Pennsylvania. He interned at another Level 5 school, The Children’s Guild, where he worked closely with the Clinical Department. Damian later enrolled at NorthCentral University, where he received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in General Marriage and Family Therapy. While pursuing the certificate, he worked with several couples and honed his couple’s therapy skills. Damian is also a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention trainer who trains and assists agencies, schools, and families in verbal de-escalation strategies and behavior modification.

On a personal level, Damian is a native Marylander with a passion for travel, writing, and spending time with family and friends. He is also a life learner and looks forward to learning new things daily!
