Nat Thomson, clinician at Washington Psychological Wellness

Nat Thomson, LMSW

Licensed Master Social Worker

“Therapy can offer room to understand your story, discover new perspectives, and find a clearer way forward.”

ABOUT Nat Thomson

Nat offers a warm, welcoming space for clients ages 13 and older, couples, and families to talk openly, feel understood, and work through life’s challenges. He takes time to learn each person’s story, including what feels difficult and what they hope will change.

His approach is curious, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each client’s experience. Whether clients are seeking a new perspective, stronger relationships, or a clearer path forward, Nat helps them recognize their strengths and take manageable steps toward their goals.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Before entering social work, Nat spent 15 years in research, communications, and strategic planning in New York City. His work involved listening closely, understanding different perspectives, and collaborating with others to define challenges and develop practical plans.

His graduate studies explored culture, social movements, and the experiences of marginalized groups. This background informs his attention to the social context of clients’ lives, including how identity, community, and workplace experiences influence well-being.

CLINICAL FOCUS

Nat draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, Solution-Focused, and Narrative Therapy approaches to support clients navigating life challenges, relationships, and personal growth. He adapts therapy to the needs and goals of each individual, couple, or family.

His approach combines reflection with practical strategies. Clients can explore how past experiences shape present patterns, consider the stories they hold about themselves, and develop steps toward meaningful change.
