Katarina Syed

Graduate Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern

“I believe connection and creativity can help you feel understood and discover new ways to grow.”

ABOUT Katarina Syed

Katarina welcomes children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families into a warm, nonjudgmental space where they can feel heard and understood. She values connection and helps clients explore challenges, strengthen relationships, and work toward goals that matter to them.

She recognizes that everyone expresses themselves differently. Whether through conversation, reflection, or creativity, Katarina adapts her approach to each client’s needs and creates room for honest exploration, self-understanding, and growth.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Katarina’s background includes counseling practice support roles, cognitive research at Georgia State University, and work as a Registered Behavior Technician supporting autistic children. She has also volunteered in elementary schools and with children experiencing housing instability.

These experiences strengthened her appreciation for different ways of learning, communicating, and navigating challenges. Her studies in psychology and cognitive science inform her curiosity about how people make sense of their experiences across stages of life.

CLINICAL FOCUS

Katarina supports anxiety, stress, identity exploration, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She works collaboratively to understand each client’s concerns, including patterns that affect confidence, communication, and connection with others.

Her clinical interests include Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and developmentally appropriate play therapy. She tailors her approach to help clients explore their stories, clarify their values, and develop meaningful ways forward. With couples and families, she makes space for different perspectives and shared goals.
