Dr. LaMar supports adults at Washington Psychological Wellness as they navigate change, health concerns, and questions of meaning and purpose. She offers a compassionate, reflective space where clients can feel heard, explore their experiences, and reconnect with their strengths.

As a brain tumor survivor, Dr. LaMar brings a personal understanding of the uncertainty and adjustment that can accompany serious health challenges. She respects that each person’s experience is different and keeps the client’s story, needs, and goals at the center of care.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Dr. LaMar’s background includes individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, psychological assessment, university counseling, and clinical supervision. She has worked with clients across the lifespan and supported college students navigating academic pressures, relationships, identity, and emotional concerns.

She also served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at Alabama A&M University, teaching graduate courses in areas including family therapy, lifespan development, and counseling diverse populations. Her published research explores media influence, hair texture, racial and ethnic identity, and self-efficacy among Black women, reflecting her commitment to cultural understanding and advocacy.

CLINICAL FOCUS

Dr. LaMar supports clients navigating health-related concerns, grief, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, relationship challenges, workplace concerns, educational planning, and end-of-life questions. She helps clients explore sources of meaning while making room for the emotions and uncertainties that can accompany difficult experiences.

Her approach integrates Solution-Focused Therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and exploratory psychotherapy. She balances practical strategies with deeper reflection, helping clients identify barriers, clarify goals, and develop ways forward that fit their values and circumstances.
