ABOUT Dawn Gallagher

Dawn brings more than 30 years of experience in helping roles to her work at Washington Psychological Wellness. She believes every person has strengths and the capacity to build a fulfilling life. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in understanding the whole person, including their experiences, relationships, and goals.

Dawn creates space for clients to make sense of what they have been through without feeling defined by a diagnosis. She offers respectful, individualized support as clients navigate challenges, reconnect with their strengths, and explore what they want moving forward.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Dawn’s experience spans inpatient and outpatient mental health care, substance use treatment, crisis stabilization, and telehealth. She has provided individual and group therapy to clients across the lifespan and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support coordinated care.

Before becoming licensed, Dawn worked as a clinical case manager, advocating for people experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. Her background has shaped her understanding of both immediate distress and longer-term recovery, with a particular focus on supporting people affected by trauma.

CLINICAL FOCUS

Dawn supports clients navigating trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, women’s issues, career questions, and life transitions. She takes an integrative approach, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

She helps clients understand patterns in their thoughts and emotions, strengthen coping skills, and identify practical steps toward their goals. Together, Dawn and her clients choose strategies that fit their circumstances, values, and strengths.
