Dr. Kosha Shah, Psy.D., Licensed Psychology Associate, earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and her Master of Science from Loyola University. She primarily works with children, adolescents, and parents.
Dr. Shah has trained in acute inpatient and outpatient settings and has experience providing individual therapy, group therapy, and assessment. She has worked at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children (VTCC), Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, and as a school-based therapist in Baltimore. During her pre doctoral internship at VTCC, she also provided consultation liaison services at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, supporting families and medical teams in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as well as in the adult Trauma and Burn Unit. These experiences allow her to approach clients with sensitivity, collaboration, and care during complex and vulnerable moments.
She has a particular interest in working with youth from immigrant backgrounds, with a focus on identity development and acculturative stress, while remaining attentive to each client’s unique cultural and family context. Dr. Shah uses an integrative approach to therapy, drawing primarily from cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, while incorporating play-based and creative techniques when helpful.
Dr. Shah believes in building on clients’ strengths and helping them access their inner resilience in a warm, supportive therapeutic environment.
